555 cigarettes were introduced by their company, British American Tobacco in 1895 and have been one of BAT's best-selling cigarettes for more than a century by now. The trade name is succeeding constantly and its popularity among smokers is on the rise. Now sold in more than 55 countries, the State Express 555 cigarettes are particularly popular with smokers in China, Taiwan, Bangladesh and Vietnam.
Ashtrays exhibit three breaks at the edges, two of which keep up a correspondence to the width of a 555 cigarettes and one to that of the diameter of a cigar. These breaks serve as rests for the 555 cigarettes(s) or cigar while still aflame. The simplest, most common ashtray design is that of a circle with a hollow cylindrical border around a plane surface, similar to a drinking bud vase such as a glass or cup but larger in diameter and much shallower.
