The most famous historical way of Camel cigarettes is the soft pack of the regular, unfiltered variety. Camel regulars achieved the peak of their popularity through personalities such as news broadcaster Edward R. Murrow, who smoked up to four packs of Camel regulars per day, in effect using a Camel cigarette as his trade name.
CAMEL cigarettes contain mix of choice Turkish and American tobaccos to bring you full smoking satisfaction with CAMEL merit Camel Wides, starting in 2008, began displaying this on the overturn side of the pack: The larger gauge of a Camel Wides cigarette makes for the smoothest, most flavorful way to enjoy Camel's distinctive blend of the most excellent Turkish and Domestic tobaccos.
"Camel" a premium cigarette brand was introduced by R.J. Reynolds, an American tobacco company in the year 1913. These cigarettes are made up of a good mix of Turkish tobacco and Virginia tobacco. This blend of two different quality tobaccos was changed in the year 2008; at the same time the package design was also changed.
Camel cigarettes are unique because they are made in such a way that few considered them to be tastier, and some considered them as harsher at the same time. To promote the brand the manufactures rolled out numerous catchy slogans like "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", that created some kind of temptation in the minds of their customers. They had innovative modes of marketing styles, to make their product popular. It was distributed for free during the times of World War I and World War II. They started using the 'Joe Camel' as their symbol since 1987, which had become a familiar character among children!
On the reverse side of Camel cigarettes packs one can see the following texts, "Turkish tobacco is the world's smoothest, most aromatic leaf. Blending it with more robust domestic tobaccos is the secret to Camel's distinctive flavor and world-class smoothness." This was changed in 2008 to, "A master-crafted blend of only the finest hand-picked Samsun & Izmir Turkish tobaccos with a robust domestic tobacco blend creates Camel's distinctive flavor and world-class smoothness." The reverse side of the three "Turkish Blend" cigarettes displays this message along with a description that differs depending on the blend, "Turkish tobacco is the world's smoothest, most aromatic leaf." Similarly the reverse side of unfiltered Camel cigarettes displayed this text for many years, a theme also used by R. J. Reynolds in its advertising as early as 1915, "Don't look for premiums or coupons, as the cost of the tobaccos blended in Camel Cigarettes prohibits the use of them." Or "Camel, a premium blend of the finest quality tobaccos, provides genuine smoking pleasure."
